Charlie SMITH Obituary

SMITH, Charlie C., 75, of Lutz, Florida, passed away December 31, 2012. He was preceded in death by his parents, Max and Margaret Smith, and his brother, David J. Smith. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jane Smith; his sister, Maxine Law; two sons, Gary Smith, Byron Smith (Andrea); two grandchildren, Rachel Smith and Alexander Smith. Charlie was born on the Isle of Pines, Cuba and moved to the United States when he was an infant. Outdoors was a passion to him as evidenced by his career in farming (poultry, cattle and citrus groves) and his love for fishing, hunting, scuba diving, spearfishing, and golf. He was also an avid bowler. During his career in farming he earned the "Farmer of the Year" award for his work with poultry. He also served in the military from 1957 to 1963. He led an active life until suffering a massive stroke in 1997 and subsequently succumbing to cancer. A Memorial Service will be held to celebrate his life on January 3, 2013, 2:00p.m. at Lake Magdalene United Methodist Church chapel with a reception afterwards.
