Ruhl PACE Obituary

PACE, Ruhl Laveigne, passed away peacefully July 15, 2013, surrounded by his loved ones. Born in Wauchula in 1920, he was the son of Linton Walter and Bertha Close Pace of Wauchula. He leaves behind his wife, Earlene Pace, and a large, blended family that was one of his proudest achievements: Daughters-Barbara Pace, Tracy Everett (Ron), Debra Horvath, Janet Hale, Stacey Rodriguez; Grandchildren-Eric Bagley, Shana Ray, Pace and Austin Everett, and Anthony, Nicholas, Deanna, and Christopher Rodriguez. He is also survived by two siblings, Margaret Roberts (Lawrence) of Wauchula and Mark Pace of Dalton, Ga.; seven great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Ruhl was a valedictorian at Wauchula High School, and during WWII he served in the United States Army Air Corps. He was a successful businessman who worked with County Court Clerks and Supervisors of Elections throughout Florida. Ruhl took pride in his customers, many of whom came to regard him as a trusted friend. He garnered much respect from his peers across the state. He loved music, the Gators, and watching his grandchildren play sports. He was a loyal member of the Rotarians and the Elks. He believed in hard work and the value of education. He did things "his way." Funeral services will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Plant City on Friday, July 19th at 11:00 AM. A celebration of his life at the Plant City Elks Club will follow the funeral services. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Ruhl Pace Scholarship Fund at Plant City High School or the First United Methodist Church would be greatly appreciated.
