CAPPELANO, Blanche M. (Harwood), 84, of Spring Hill, FL "Blanchie" passed away quietly in hospice on March 28, 2014, in the presence of her loving family after a severe stroke. Blanche was born January 29, 1930, in Natick, MA to the late Frank W. and Blanche M. (Garvey) Harwood. Blanche was educated at St. Patrick's School (Natick, MA) and graduated from "Our Lady's" High School (Newton, MA) in 1947. She then attended St. Elizabeth's Hospital School of Nursing (Brighton, MA) and became an RN in 1950. As a proud alumna of "St. E's", she also served a term as Alumni President. Blanche worked as an RN at Leonard Morse Hospital (Natick, MA) until marrying USAF SSgt Anthony J. Cappelano on May 1, 1954, at McGuire AFB (NJ). Blanche greatly enjoyed the opportunity of traveling with Tony to his various duty stations, particularly France. After Tony's retirement from the Air Force and their settling in Bellingham, MA, Blanche resumed her nursing career, ultimately retiring from the Natick Army Research Laboratories as the Occupational Health Nurse in 1981. Blanche was an avid reader of historically themed romance novels, particularly enjoying the works of Emily Loring. While living in Bellingham, Blanche was active with the Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, and the St. Blaise Parish Women's Guild (of which she served a term as president). Beloved wife and mother, Blanche remained happily wed to Tony until his passing in 2004.
