Chancey Wallace "Dr. Chan" SPRINGSTEAD II

SPRINGSTEAD, Chancey Wallace II "Dr. Chan," 86, of Brooksville, died Saturday, October 27, 2012, at The Grande. A lifelong resident of Brooks-ville, he attended Hernando High School and the University of Florida going on to receive his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree from Emory University in Atlanta. He opened his dental office in Brooksville in 1952, practicing for 40 plus years until his retirement. He grew up in the First Methodist Church of Brooksville, was a Boy Scout Master, served on the Board of Directors of SunTrust Bank, was a member of the Brooksville Kiwanis Club and became Lieutenant Governor of Kiwanis for the State of Florida. Active in the Lemon Grove Camp, he was an avid hunter and fisherman, never missing opening day of hunting season. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty and brother, F. W. Springstead. Survivors include his sons & daughters-in-law, Jack & Robin Springstead of Brooksville and Neil & Candace Springstead of Andalusia, AL; sister, Elsie Springstead Howell of Concord, NC; grand-children, Jaclyn Lee Jenkins of Fredricksburg, VA, and Chan W. Springstead, III of Orlando, FL; and great-grandchildren, Reilley, Jackson and Abigael Jenkins. Dr. Springstead will be interred in the Springstead family plot at Brooksville Cemetery. Services will remain private for the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Florida Sheriff's Youth Ranch, P.O. Box 2000, Boys Ranch, FL 32064.
