KISSINGER, James M., 88, of Lake Placid, Fla., died Thursday January 31, 2013, at Florida Hospital-Lake Placid. He was a native of Indiana, born March 15, 1924, son of Ms. Cynthia and James G. Kissinger of Culver. Jim joined the U.S. Army after high school and was stationed in England. He served proudly during WWII. When Jim was discharged he began a career at Inland Steel in East Chicago, Ind. He worked as a crane operator and retired after 28 years due to work related injuries. Jim and his wife came to Lake Placid 19 years ago from Valparaiso, Ind. He was a member of the Placid Lakes Baptist Church where he sang with the choir. Jim enjoyed gardening, traveling, camping, and especially loved his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jim is survived by his wife, Shirley Ann (Ehlers) who he wed February 26, 1972 in Chesterton, Ind.; children, Dale Kissinger (Deborah), Middleville, Mich., Gerald Kissinger (Sandy), Stillman Valley, Ill., Randall Kissinger (Penny), Middleville, Mich., Kathleen Weimer (Jack) Gurnee, Ill., Gregory Miller (Angie), Bonita Springs, Fla., Daniel Kissinger (Karen), Wildwood, Ill., Jeffery Miller (Bev), Valparaiso, Ind; siblings, Wilbur, Clifford, Dannie, Lloyd, and Karl Kissininger, Margie Underwood, Janey Cernek; 22 grandchildren, and he was blessed with 23 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Evelyn Kissinger who he wed February 6, 1948; and son, Matthew Miller. Shirley and family will receive friends from 3 through 4 p.m. Monday, February 4, at the Placid Lakes Baptist Church with services beginning at 4 p.m. Pastor Jeff Taylor will celebrate. A memorial service will also be held at a later date in Indiana. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Placid Lakes Baptist Church Building Fund.
