James Otis "Jim" KIGHT

KIGHT, James Otis "Jim", 90, of Sebring passed away Monday, November 18, 2013 at Somer Hospice House. He was born April 15, 1923 in Kite, Georgia to Otis L.and Carrie M. Kight. Mr. Kight served in the Navy on a mine sweeper ship during WWII. He moved to Sebring in 1953 from Winter Haven. He retired from CSX Railroad in signal maintenance. He was a charter member of the First Baptist Church of Lake Josephine in Sebring. Mr. Kight was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian L. Kight, a stepson, Joe Ellis, two sisters, Betty K. Broom and Doris K. White, and nephew, James O. White, III. He is survived by two sisters, Virginia K. Anderson and husband Robert of Hayesville, NC, and Charlotte K. Lipham of Minneapolis, MN, and brother-in-law Ray Broom of Bonaire, GA. He is also survived by niece Jennifer McCarty and husband Blake of Atlanta, GA; nephew Robert Anderson, Jr. And wife Lynn of Salisbury, NC; nephew John Anderson and wife Lynn of Murphy, NC; nephew James Anderson and wife Liza of Washington, DC; nephew Keel Broom and wife Sharon of Kathleen, GA; nephew Frank Broom and wife Jeanie of Thomaston, GA; nephew Greg Broom and wife Sheila of Byron, GA; nephew Randy Broom and wife Ann of Warner Robins, GA; niece Pam Powell and husband Bo of Knoxville, TN; nephew Calvin Broom of Atlanta, GA; nephew Dr. William Lipham and wife Azura of Minneapolis, MN; niece Beth Lipham of Phoenix, AZ; niece Jen nifer W. White of Charleston, SC; niece Lynn W. Inman of Jacksonville, FL; nephew William White and wife Angela of Pearson, GA; niece Cheryl McGinnis and husband Rick of Gainesville, FL, and nephew Douglas L. Waldorf and wife Donna of Fort Myers, FL; 35 great nieces and nephews; and 14 great-great nieces and nephews. Services will be held at First Baptist Church of Lake Josephine at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 24, 2013 with Dr. Kevin Ahrens officiating. The family will receive friends at the Church one hour prior to the time of service. Jim will be laid to rest with his loving wife, Vivian, at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida on Monday, November 25, 2013. Donations to in memory of James Kite are encouraged.
