Joseph Bondi, the father of Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi and a former Temple Terrace mayor, died Tuesday after a lengthy battle with leukemia. He was 76.
Joseph Bondi was mayor from 1974 to 1978 after serving as a city councilman from 1970 to 1974.
"My beautiful Daddy went to Heaven yesterday," Pam Bondi posted Wednesday on her Facebook page. "He was surrounded by all his family. He fought a great fight with leukemia. Thanks for all of your prayers and support. We are so heartbroken but comforted to know he is with our Lord. Please continue to pray for my family during this most difficult time in our lives."
Joseph Bondi is survived by his wife, Patsy, and their three children, Pam, Beth Bondi McIntyre and Brad Bondi. He resided in Temple Terrace as well as Longboat Key.
Bondi also served as a professor at the University of South Florida's College of Education.
