A 15-year-old Seminole girl died Tuesday morning, a day after a towed inning tube she was riding on was struck by a jet ski at Lake Seminole.
Katie Yale died at a hospital due to injuries sustained in the Labor Day incident, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office said.
The collision occurred about 1:45 p.m. Monday at Lake Seminole Park, 10015 Park Blvd. N., Seminole.
Douglas Yale, 44, of 5863 Blossom Lake Drive, Seminole, was operating a 19-foot Key West center console boat, towing an inner tube carrying Katie and another girl, deputies said.
A Sea Doo personal watercraft, operated by Ryan Godcharles, 21, of Naples, collided with the tube, sending the girls into the water, deputies said.
The other girl, 13-year-old Audree Franz, of Seminole, sustained minor injuries, deputies said Monday.
No other injuries were reported.
Alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the incident, deputies said.
