Lawrence Henry Tate

TATE, Lawrence Henry, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014 after a stroke. He was born in 1920 in Washington, NC. Larry spent his entire life centered around flying. He received his pilot's license at 15 while flying biplanes. His love of planes sent him into the Army Air Corp training men years older than himself. During his 33½years in the Air Force, he also served in Korea and Vietnam. After his military career was over, he lived in Destin FL, where he took up his second love - sailing. He was commodore of the Ft Walton Beach Yacht Club where he made many friends. After the death of his second wife, he moved in with his only daughter, Anne Tate, and they traveled the world together. For the past several years, he has lived in Tampa in the home of his daughter and her husband, Ken Clark. He will be buried in Raleigh, NC, between his two beloved wives, both named Margaret M. Tate.
