Loyce W. HARDY

HARDY, Loyce W. (Nana) 79, of Venus, Fla., went to be with her Lord on Wednesday evening, surrounded by her family at Blake Medical Center in Bradenton. A native of Venus, she was born in a log cabin at the old Albritton homestead on December 28, 1933 to parents Senie (Albritton) and Gus Williams. A pioneering woman whose way of life - living off the land, making her famous homemade guava butter and salsa was featured in several newspaper articles. Loyce enjoyed cooking, canning and all outdoor activities including hunting and fishing, she was known as the "fish slayer." She loved to spend time with her family and friends. Sister Hardy was of the Church of God faith. She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Shorty Hardy; sons, Wayne Hardy, Glenn Hardy, Ray Strickland, and David Strickland; 8 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and a great, great-grandson. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 12, 2013, at the Scott Funeral Home, 504 W. Interlake Blvd., Lake Placid. Funeral Services to celebrate Loyce's life will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 13, 2013, at the old Venus Church of God, 835 County Road 731, Venus with Pastor Ronnel Barfield officiating. Graveside service will follow at the Venus Cemetery.
