Lynette "Coach" FERNANDEZ

FERNANDEZ, Lynette "Coach", 95, of Tampa died October 16, 2013. Born on November 27, 1917, she was an avid sports fan and was a Physical Education teacher for over 30 years at OLPH winning numerous championships in various sports. After coaching at OLPH, she served as a playground Director for the City of Tampa Parks and Recreation Department. She was a true influence to her students and served as role model for female athletes. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest D. Fernandez and all of her siblings. Lynette is survived by her daughter, Ernestine Dodson (Allen); granddaughter, Terrie Dodson (Mark Caldevilla); sister-in-law, Margaret C. Fernandez; caregivers, the Marin Family and several cherished nieces and nephews. A special thank you to the Hospice Garnet Team for their care and compassion in her final days. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Monday, October 21st at Christ the King Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her honor to Mendenhall Elementary, 5202 Mendenhall Drive, Tampa, FL 33603.
