CARR, Margo DeBerry, age 92, passed away on Jan. 10, 2013 in Plant City. She was born on Sept. 10, 1920 in Buda, Texas to Leyon and Mary (Harris) DeBerry. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, John D. Carr; her twin brother, Marvin DeBerry; her sisters, Leona DeBerry Truman, and Iva DeBerry Hensley; and her daughter, Nancy Hencey Holloway Cunigan and son, physicist Thomas R. Hencey III. Survived by sons, John L. Carr, wife Linda, and Samuel D. Carr, wife Joy; nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. During World War II she worked at Tampa Shipyard as a press operator and welder. She helped her brother Marvin get a job there. Margo worked in the Hillsborough county school system from 1968 through 1986 as a teacher's aide at Dover and Jackson elementary schools. Was active in PTA, the American Legion Auxillary (five time president), the Democratic Party, March of Dimes (chairman) and numerous other political and community service organizations. As president of Jackson school's PTA she started a project to make sure all the children there had shoes. She transported Hillsborough county children to children's hospitals throughout Florida. From the late fifties to the mid-seventies she served as a counselor for Florida's Girl State. Margo was known for her boundless energy, delicious cooking, and love for her family. She will be missed. Funeral Services will be on Wednesday Jan. 16, 2013 11:00 a.m. at Wells Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Tuesday evening from 6 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Memorial Park.
