Nick J. SAKKIS

SAKKIS, Nick J., 95, a lifelong resident of Tampa, passed away on June 29, 2013. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend. Nick was a veteran of WW II having served in the U.S. Army. He was a founding member of St. John Greek Orthodox Church where he served on the Parish Council and as Parish Council President. He was also the chairman of the Building Committee for the Kourmolis Center. Nick held the office of President of the AHEPA Lycurgus Chapter (Tampa) and also the distinction of being the chapter's longest standing member. He was a founder and owner of Hillsboro Coffee Company for 55 years. Nick was an avid golfer and played into his nineties. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 70 years, Helen. Nick is survived by his son Johnny (Katherine); daughter Patty McTague (Neil), his grandchildren, Tasha Sakkis, Nadia Sakkis, Lauren McTague Compton (Welty), Nicholas Sakkis, four great grandchildren and his sister-in-law Lula Milonas. He will be truly missed and in our hearts forever. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation and thanks to his devoted care givers; Zoila, Ana and Yolanda. Funeral services will take place July 3rd, 2:00 PM at St. John Greek Orthodox Church, 2418 Swann Avenue, Tampa, Florida with internment following at Garden of Memories. Donations in Nick's memory may be made to St. John Greek Orthodox Church Stained Glass Restoration Fund.
