DESSING, Richard A., 84, of Lake Placid, passed away Friday, December 7, 2012, at Good Shepherd Hospice in Sebring, Fl. He was born July 6, 1928, in Weston, West Virginia, to parents, Frank and Carrie (Foster) Dessing. He retired as the Financial Operations Manager at the Marion, IN RCA Plant on January 1, 1985, and moved to Lake Placid, FL. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army
and served in Japan as part of the U.S. Occupation Forces. Over the years, Mr. Dessing was active as a Cub Scout Leader, Little League Coach, Junior Achievement Advisor, and was involved with the YMCA and the United Way. He also served as Treasurer, Vice President, and the President of the Gas City Library Board. He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Betty Jean (Holloway) Dessing; and a brother, Frank Dessing. Survivors are a daughter, Jane (Craig) Edwards, Gas City; and sons, Rick (Lisa) Dessing, Clarkston, WA, and David (Laura) Dessing, Marion, IN; sisters, Dorothy Conroy, Marion and Mary Landis, Sebring, FL; eight grandchildren, five step grandchildren, and several great grandchildren. Dick would like to extend his gratitude to all of his friends, neighbors, and "poker buddies" of Tomoka Heights. They made his last years happy.
