CORLEY, Sr., Rev. Robert C. "BEAR," 74, of Tampa, passed away at 1:45 a.m. on Dec. 18, 2013. He was born on Dec. 2, 1939 in Paterson, NJ to Rodger & Jean Corley. He graduated from Eastside High School/Vo-Tech & served aboard the US Navy
's USS CLAMAGORE (SS-343). In 1981, Robert relocated to Tampa where he was nicknamed "BEAR". There he managed PJ's Lounge and worked at the Tampa Tribune, Mac's Printing & St. Philip Towing. He was a Merchant Marine licensed by the US Coast Guard and also received his Certificate of Ordination from Hiding Place Ministry. He was selected as Volunteer of the Month in March 1997 by SHARE Tampa Bay. Preceded in death by his son, Robert Corley, Jr (deceased Feb. 1995), he is survived by his brother: Rodger X. Corley, Jr; 5 of his 6 CHILDREN: Pamela Rusk, Debra Christensen, Beverley Dessert , Ann Marie Corley-Greiner & Rae Elizabeth Manning; 18 GRAND-CHILDREN: Jamie, Chrissy, Ryan, Amanda, Brandon, Kayla, Lauren, Jessika, Kayleigh, Megara, Corwin, TC, Chris, Ashley, Stephanie, Justin, Destiny, & Haley; and 10 GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Breckyn, Lincoln, Taylor, Landen, Emelia, Raurie, Taya, Emberlyn, Austin & Katelynn. Bear was blessed with friends in faith that he appreciated and loved, specifically John & Betty Golden. A Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 13th, 2014 at The Thonotosassa Church of God, 11702 N. Taylor Rd. Thonotosassa, FL 33592. He was preceded in death by his wife Joyce and their ashes will be spread together in International Waters by the US Navy at a later date.
