Robert "Bob" Newell

NEWELL, Robert "Bob", at 81 years of age went home to be with the Lord on August 16, 2013. He was sleeping peacefully when he drew his last breath this side of Heaven. He served in the U.S. Army for three years and was honorably discharged. He attended the University of Miami and graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration, and he became a Certified Public Accountant (C.P.A.). He had a very successful 30-year career with the Internal Revenue Service and retired in 1979. He and his wife, Helen, took a number of memorable vacations during his 24 years of retirement, including a five-month road-trip throughout the United States and Canada. It was his joy to serve the Lord in various capacities for over 50 years in a number of Baptist churches, the last of which was First Baptist Church in Brandon. Helen G. Newell, Bob's beloved, faithful wife, best friend and the love of his life for 57 years preceded him in death in February 2013. His legacy, left to cherish his memory, include two daughters, Deborah "Debe" Mainville and Virginia "Jinny" Oldham; three grand-children, Melissa Dormer, Jason Moran, and Mark Oldham, M.D.; and five great-grandchildren, Nevada and Nicholas Dormer and Shelby, Codie and Marissa Moran. His grandson, Mark, is a physician in psychiatry, currently completing a fellowship at Yale School of Medicine. Mark was like a son to him, and Bob was his mentor for many years and very influential in guiding Mark's career path. Also he is survived by his sister, Laura Newell Hulst, who was very special and precious to him. Bob has requested that there be no funeral or after-death memorial service of any type. His body has been laid to rest in the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida with his wife. He is now in Heaven with his Lord and Savior and his beloved wife, Helen forever.
