Sara Elizabeth LAWRENCE

LAWRENCE, Sara Elizabeth, a long-time resident of Brooksville, passed away on October 8th, 2013 at the age of 95. Known to friends and family as "Sally" she was born in New Castle, Pennsylvania on March 7, 1918 to Mark and Gladys Druschel. She was a graduate of New Castle High School. She and her husband, George, were married in 1938 and George preceded her in death in 1992. Sally enrolled at Slippery Rock University in the late 1960s where she graduated with a degree in elementary education with a major in music. She briefly taught elementary school in New Castle before moving to Brooksville in 1971. She worked for many years in Brooksville as an elementary school teacher. Sally was a long-time member of the Brooksville Wesleyan Church in Brooksville where she was a member of the choir and often played her violin and the piano in church services and programs. She loved music and often sang solos and in duets, trios, and quartets. Sally is survived by her children, Sally L. Lawrence of Brooksville and George E. Lawrence, Jr. of Oroville, California. She is also survived by her sister, Helen Dunkerley of New Castle. Sally leaves behind two grandchildren and six great-grand-children. Her faith and her love for others remain an inspiration to all who knew her. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00am, Saturday, October 26, 2013 at Brooksville Wesleyan Church.
