GRIFFIN, Thelma A., 92, of Avon Park, died Wednesday night at her residence in Fairway Pines. She had worked as a telephone operator for over 22 years. She was proud to have been the oldest living member of the First United Methodist Church of Avon Park. She enjoyed volunteering at the church and with the Avon Park Historical Society. She also loved to fish. She is survived by three children and spouses, Sylvia Lynelle and Lykes Collier, Sebring, Linda S. and Reese Parrish, Parrish, FL and Doyle C. and Debbie Griffin, Hawkins, Texas; sister, Doris Rust, Knoxville, Tenn.; six grandchildren, Dwayne Collier, Debra Wilbanks, Maresa Parrish, Page Watkins, Matthew Griffin, and Kelley Griffin; nine great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; her lifelong friend, Martha Farless and lots of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 31, 2012, at 1:00 p.m. at Fountain Funeral Home with Pastor Devon Jarrett and Pastor Gary Pendrak officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service. Interment will follow in Bougainvillea Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Conerstone Hospice, 1st United Methodist Church of Avon Park, or Fairway Pines. Arrangements with Fountain Funeral Home, Avon Park, Florida.
