MAWN, Dr. Thomas J., 79, went to be with the Lord on December 12, 2012 after a 13 year bout with cancer. Dr. Tom died at home surroun-ded by family and friends. He was born in North Western, Penn. to Dr. Francis E. and Marie K. Mawn. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Bettina Steinhauer, his 3 sons, Thomas Jr (Katie) of Tampa, Fla., Stephen (Maura) of Voorhees, N.J. and Michael (Vicky) of Kennett Square, 8 grandchildren, and brother William F Mawn (Joy) of Floral City, Fla. In 1969 he opened his private practice in Tampa: Drs. Finney, Stevenson and Mawn. His professional achievements include: Chief of Urology at St Josephs Hospital from 1980-1995, President of the Florida Urological Association, President of the American Lithotripsy Society, President of the Greater Tampa Bay Urological Society, as well as being on a number of boards including the Board of Directors for the Bay Area Renal Stone Center. Dr Tom was also involved in the community as a long standing member of the Tampa North Rotary Club
and acting president in 1994. He was also a Paul Harris Fellow. Dr. Tom spent his spare time with family and friends on the ocean; boating, spear fishing and shooting underwater photography. Dr Tom and the whole family would like to thank Drs. David Eschevarria, Anthony Brannan, Rand Altemose, Frank Mastandrea, and the staff of Life Path Hospice for their unconditional devotion to Tom's medical condition. Dr. Tom would also like to thank CCC for impacting his spiritual life and bringing hope to the new life he lives today with Christ. A Memorial Service will be held at Christ Community Church, 6202 N Himes Ave, Tampa FL, 33614 on Wednesday, December 19 starting at 11:00 AM. Office # 813-879-2077.
