Wallace O. Stovall Jr.

STOVALL, JR., Wallace O., 93, passed away Dec. 16, 2012. He was born in Tampa on January 24, 1919 to parents Wallace O. Stovall and Doris Knight Stovall. He lived in Tarpon Springs since 1979. He was preceded in death by his companion, O. Louis Heyliger, and son, Wallace O. Stovall, III. He was survived by his children, Sandra S. Mason, Atlanta, GA, Laurens K. Stovall (Jacqueline), Bradenton, FL, Marlene Stovall, Tampa, FL.; grandchildren, Lion Mason, Colorado Springs, CO., Wells Mason, Coupland, TX, Lauren Gueriera, Glenwood Springs, CO., Robin Kelly, Atlanta, GA., Alysia Reade, Austin, TX,. and five great grandchildren. He enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard in 1942 and served aboard the U.S. Navy frigate "Grand Island" P. F. 14 in the Pacific Theatre. Following WWII, he became Vice President of Knight & Wall Hardware Co., and President of Stovall & Stovall Inc. Insurance Agency. In 1955, he became a licensed fishing guide and continued this vocation until 2009. He retired at the age of 90. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. A crusty, old salt, he was known to many as Capt. Wally, he was generous to a fault and loved by many. The family will receive visitors between 1-3 pm on Thursday, Dec 20, 2012, at the Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4207 E. Lake Ave. The committal service will begin at 3:00 pm at Myrtle Hill Memorial Park, 4202 E. Lake Ave, Tampa, FL.
