William Jackson LISTER Jr.

LISTER, William Jackson Jr., 91 of Plant City, Florida, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 20, 2013. Known to all as "Junior", he was a Veteran of the United States Navy having served as a mail clerk during WWII, and then in the Naval Reserves, retiring in 1984 with 30 years of service to his country. In his second career, he worked as a mailman for the United States Post Office in Plant City for 30 years, and retired in 1985. His last career was cooking breakfast with eggs as his specialty at McDonald's Restaurant on Thonotosassa Road from which he retired in 2005. He was preceded in death by his loving wife and "Sweet Pea" of 71 years, Lillian. He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, William "Sonny" and Elaine Lister, and Ferrell and Lynne Lister; Eight grandchildren, Lori (Mark) Robinson, Wendee (Jay) Chesser, Joy (Tim) Harrell, Kara (Michael) Monte, Rob (Raquel) Blair, Lizabeth (Bruce) Ferguson, Jessica Moore and Jennifer (Chad) Parish; 22 great-grandchildren, Andrew and Katherine Robinson, Sarah and Caleb Chesser, Nathan, Grace and Audrey Harrell, Emily and Max Monte, Leif, Oisin, Aliyah, and Eden Blair, Alexandria, Danielle and Phillip Ferguson, Michael, Moriah, Madison and Matthew Moore, Abigail and Asher Parish; his sisters-in-law Kathleen Lister, Bonnie Connell and Elizabeth (Grady) Tadlock. The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 24, from 6-8:00 p.m. at Hopewell Funeral Home, 6005 CR 39 S., Plant City. A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, February 25 at 11:00 a.m. at Hopewell Funeral Home. Interment to follow at Hopewell Memorial Gardens, Plant City. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of "Junior and Lillian Lister" to The First Baptist Church of Plant City or The Florida Baptist Children's Home in Lakeland.
