William Leon "Bill" Hemingway

HEMINGWAY, William Leon "Bill", of Temple Terrace passed away peacefully Thursday, March 6, 2014. He was 77. Bill was born in Dade City, Florida on October 30, 1936 to Jennie Lou and Adolphus "A.L." Hemingway. Growing up in Dade City, he attended Dade City Elementary school and graduated from Pasco High School. He attended Florida State University before enlisting in the Army in 1958. In 1961, Bill began working for Household Finance Corporation. He was transferred as a manager to Laurel, Mississippi where he remained with his family for 2 ½ years before moving to Tampa. In 1970, he became a State Farm Agent and remained with the company for 29 years before retiring in 1998. Bill belonged to several civic organizations such as Jaycees, Sertoma Club, and Rotary. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge of Dade City and the Sons of Confederate Veterans. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Joyce, daughter Cheryl (Steven) Forehand, and grandson Reed. A celebration of Bill's life will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, March 10 2014 at Blount & Curry Funeral Home, Terrace Oaks Chapel, with the family receiving friends one hour prior to the service. An interment ceremony will be held at 2:30 P.M. at Floral Memory Gardens in Dade City.
