William OTTOWAY

OTTOWAY, William L., beloved husband and father, died early Wednesday morning May 7, 2014. He was in the companionship of his loving wife and daughter at his home. William was born in Minnesota in 1926, son of Ms. Marjorie and Albert Ottoway. He celebrated his 88th birthday on February 19. William entered the US Navy after his schooling. He served during WWII aboard the US Naval ship Pine Island in the South Pacific. When William was discharged from the Navy he migrated to Miami, Florida. He retired after 30 years of service with the City of Miami as a foreman. He oversaw the carpentry department. William left Miami 31 years ago and settled in Sebring, Fl. William's family always knew him as a kind and gentle man. He was an accomplished artist, woodworker and crafter of fine furniture. William was a Baptist. William is survived by his loving wife Jean, whom he wed July 16, 1977; children, Steve, Debbie Ruda; siblings, Lorraine Sellers and Leroy and he was blessed with 5 grandchildren. The family will celebrate his life with a memorial service beginning at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 10, at the Michael A. Brochetti Funeral Home with military honors. Pastor Kevin Ahrens of First Baptist Church of Lake Josephine will celebrate. Interment will be in the Sarasota National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations are urged in the benefit of, Lake Josephine Baptist Church Meal Ministry, 111 Lake Josephine Dr. Sebring, Fl., 33875, or Good Shepherd Hospice, 1110 Hammock Rd., Sebring, Fl. 33870.
