Franklin Shaffer Obituary

FRANKLIN ALBERT SHAFFER Franklin Albert Shaffer, 78, passed away Sunday, November 23, 2008, in Avon Park, Fla. He was born in Franklin City, Kan., to Albert and Ruth (Foster) Shaffer. He was a roofer in construction, of the Protestant faith and had been a resident of Avon Park since 1959, coming from Enid, Okla. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards and spending time with his family and friends, and he always enjoyed playing the part of Santa Claus at Christmas. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Rosie Shaffer of Avon Park; sons, Franklin A. Shaffer, Jr. of Lehigh Acres, Fla., Luke Shaffer of Berryville, Ark., Mark Shaffer (Ronnie) of Belle, Miss.; daughters, Patti Olsen (Thomas) of Lehigh Acres, Fla, Wanda Brockwell of Berryville, Ark., Delores Reinsch (Michael) of Gladstone, Miss., and Gale VanBrake (Dale) of California; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, and twins, Franklin and Frances Shaffer. Visitation will take place 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, November 25, 2008, at the Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 26, 2008, at the Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home, with the Rev. Mike Adams officiating. The family would like to express their gratitude to the management and staff at Royal Care for their excellent care, compassion and sincerity through the years.
