Robert Dustman Obituary

DUSTMAN, Robert Barclay Jr., passed peacefully in Sun City

Center, Fla., May 15, 2011, at the age of 92. Bob was born Septem-ber 22, 1918, in Morgan-town, W.Va. The son of Robert Barclay and Gay Zinn Dustman, Bob graduated from West Virginia University in 1940 with a degree in chemistry. Shortly after graduation, he was drafted and served in the 3028th Army Air Force Base Unit during World War II. After the war, Bob returned to work for the DuPont Co. in Morgantown and was transferred to Niagara Falls, N.Y., where he met Lorena, his wife of 63 years. After brief assignments in Memphis, Tenn., and back in Niagara Falls, he was transferred to Wilmington, Del., where Bob and Lorena spent 25 years raising their five children. In 1988, after 42 years as a research chemist with DuPont, Bob and Lorena retired in Sun City Center. Bob was an ingenious inventor and enjoyed auto mechanics and watch and clock repair. In his retirement, he was an avid genealogist and ironically traced the family roots to Colonel Zackquill Morgan, the founder of Morgantown, W.Va. He enjoyed gardening and as a card player, he was a shrewd competitor in bridge, hearts and the daily cribbage game with Lorena. He was proud of his membership in the Niagara River Lodge of the Free and Accepted Masons, Sons of the American Revolution, and Huguenot Society. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and a sister and brother-in-law, Mary Jean and Dick Ross. He is survived by his wife, Lorena; two daughters, Sue Bennett and Mary Hays; three sons, Robert III, Richard, and John; three daughters-in-law; two sons-in-law; three grand-daughters; five grandsons; two sisters-in-law; nine nephews; two nieces; and one cousin. Robert B. Dustman Jr. will be buried by his family at Lake Park Cemetery in Youngstown, Ohio.
