FERNANDEZ, Arturo "Arthur", 91, a West Tampa native and lifelong resident of Tampa he died Wednesday, December 25, 2013 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arturo and Julia Fernandez; brother, Robert; daughter, Arleen Diane Knight and grandson, Jason Roy Rogers. Arthur is survived by his wife of 70 years, Ethel "Etelbina"; daughter, Elaine Rogers (Roy); 5 grandchildren, Trina Fuller, Amy Diaz, Justin Rogers, Katie Lot, Jacob Rogers; six great grandchildren, two sisters, Berta Echavarria, Ofelia Rosete; two brothers, Gaston and Henry all of Tampa and four generations of nieces, nephews and cousins. He was born June 18, 1922. Arthur left West Tampa to join the US Navy and was a veteran of World War II, Pacific campaign (1942-45) including the battle of Okinawa. He retired from the City of Tampa. His happiness was derived from his love of family, particularly from wife, daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren. The family would like to thank the family members and friends Dr Fred Rabow, the entire Lifepath Hospice pink team, especially Ernesto and Tasha and of course Monica for their selfless and loving help. Graveside funeral services will be held on Monday at 1 pm at The Centro Asturiano Memorial Park Cemetery.
