Coach Davis was larger than life as he turned young boys into young men on and off the football field. He cared about his players and went out of his way to help them achieve their personal and professional goals. I am forever grateful for the many learning's and support that I received from him. Coach, may you rest in peace as your unbelievable work here on earth is complete.

Coach Doug touched the lives of so many during his years with us. I learned so much from him not only about football but also about being a better person. Thank you for the positive impact you had on my boys. Coach you were a giant of a man with an even bigger heart. May you rest in peace. You may be gone but never will you be forgotten.

I meant Doug in August 1994, 6 months after I lost my Father.
In the first 30 minutes of our meeting Doug may have said 10 words. How could I have known the deep respect I would have for you Doug.
The measure of a man is the respect that he earns. Doug was a man that earned more than the highest level of respect; he earned also the highest admiration from us, Doug’s soldiers. We are Doug’s Soldiers.
Doug didn't just teach us, his ways became the essence of who we are, how we act, how we believe. There are so many ways that we learned from Doug - that they became known as "Doug-isms"
Doug showed us every day the courage it takes to be a true leader.
When Doug said he wanted to see you succeed, he did not mean it in a passive way.....That statement was a challenge. And through subtle (not so subtle) statements like this Doug was a motivator. {Doug was a man of few words, and none of them were ever subtle} After being encouraged to succeed by Doug you worked like your (you know what) was on fire!
Doug was not one to throw you in front of the bus. Instead, Doug would take up your cause and then step in front of the bus. There are a lot of crashed up busses along the Doug highway.
Doug's career in football as an offensive tackle for sure is telling of the path he lead in life. Always blocking for his soldiers, never accepting the glory. Well Doug - today your soldiers are blocking for you.
I would tell you to rest in peace, but we know damn well you won't be resting.
Doug - you were like a Father to me. I will miss your advice (which was always right by the way). I won't miss your love because it will always be there.
We love you Doug. I love you Doug. God Bless You Captain!

"Uncle Doug" as we knew him was a great man. He taught my husband Dwayne, his nephew, the importance of hard work and dedication to a job well done. It didn't matter if it was raking leaves or joining him as a salesman with his company. I always enjoyed hanging out with him on holidays and family functions. I learned quickly to give him back the crap he gave me :). Rest in peace Uncle Doug.
