CLARK, James Ronald "Ron" 71, a lifelong resident of Tampa, FL passed away at St. Joseph's Hospital May 8th, 2014. He was born November 23, 1942. Ron is survived by his loving wife Cheryl, of 47 years, one daughter Missy, "The light of his life", and son-in-law John McLaughlin. He is also survived by two brothers, Dr. Byron E. Clark of Tampa and Harvey and Janice Clark of Prattville, Alabama and many nieces and nephews. Ron attended Chamberlin High School and graduated with a Finance Degree from Florida State University. His career continued in the financial world and later he became an entrepreneur developing other enterprises. He retired from his own company Heritage Title. Ron was an extremely generous and kind individual, who loved to be part of civic organizations that gave back to the community. He was president of the Tampa Jaycees from 1971-1972. He was awarded the honor of being named JCI Senator in 1975. Ron played a part in getting an NFL franchise in Tampa. Along with other Jaycees, Ron signed a personal note to a bank in order to secure an NFL game in Tampa, Florida. As a result of this endeavor, Tampa was awarded an NFL team in 1976. As President of the Jaycees, Ron won the coveted Henry Giessenbier Award, given to the outstanding chapter of the state. During his term, he was instrumental in acquiring the USS Requin, a naval submarine used in WWII. The Requin rested behind Curtis Hixon Hall, and served as a tourist attraction for many years later. He also was President of the Town and Country Rotary Club, that funded scholarships, sponsored an annual golf tournament and assisted with the local food bank. A celebration of his life will be held on May 24th, at 11:00 AM, at Lutheran Church of Our Savior, 8401 West Hillsborough Ave. Tampa with Pastor Jon Keiser officiating. Interment will follow at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park, 2860 Sunset Point Rd. Clearwater. The family asks, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to
