ARANGO, Lawrence Anthony, passed away at his home in Tampa on June 8th 2013. Everybody that knew him called him Tim. Parents Anthony August Arango and Blanche Elise Arango welcomed Tim into the world on July 2nd 1931 at Centro Asturiano Hospital in Ybor City. His family's role in the history of Tampa, Ybor City and cigar industry was always a source of great pride for Tim. Tim attended Gorrie, Wilson, Plant and the University of Florida. The friendships that started in his school days lasted him a lifetime. Tim was a man of many interests. He was a lifelong magician and was proud to be the Dean of the Warren Hamilton Ring of the International Brotherhood of Magicians. He was an active member of Sacred Heart Church and his faith brought him great comfort in his later years. He loved to talk about politics and was not shy with his opinions in that area. He was a lifelong follower of golf and Gator football. Tim worked out regularly at the Downtown YMCA, but he readily admitted that he enjoyed seeing the friends he made there more than the exercise. Tim is survived by his son Lawrence Anthony Arango Jr. (also called Tim), his grandchildren Anastasia August Arango and Jude Wilson Arango, cousins Toni Kemmerle and Joe Arango, and his best friend Fran Kerr. A memorial service will be held at Sacred Heart Church in Tampa at 10:30 am on July 20th. In lieu of flowers a memorial donation may be given to Lifepath Hospice as thanks for the comfort and support they gave Tim.
