MILLER, Michael, 71, passed away July 6, 2013. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, served in the Coast Guard and graduated from the University of Miami, remaining a lifelong Hurricane supporter. During his 20 years at H. Miller & Sons, Inc. a land development and home building company, he rose through the ranks to the position of President and CEO. His efforts enabled the company to build 5,000 homes in Florida and Texas, become the very first IPO by Raymond James Financial and be listed on the American Stock Exchange and eventually to sell to Lennar Corporation where he served as division President and member of the Board of Directors. He also served on the board of the South Florida Home Builders. Rather than a builder of houses, Mike considered himself a "creator of communities." In 1995, he founded Miller Florida Homes, Inc. which developed the Villages at Cypress Creek, a 1,600 acre community surrounding a golf course and 640 acre nature preserve, 20 minutes south of Tampa which includes the Villa d'Este and La Paloma subdivisions. He was genuinely interested in all people from the workmen on the job to corporate executives and elected officials. His memory will be cherished by Vicki, his loving wife of 21 years, his son, Adam (Michelina Cairo, M.D.), his daughter, Anastasia, stepdaughters, Kimberly and Cheri, brothers Ron (Sheila) and Gary (Caryn), sister, Marcy Lewis and numerous nieces and nephews. His funeral service will be 10:45 on Tuesday at Gutterman Warheit, 7240 N. Federal Highway, Boca Raton. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to UNICEF, The Holocaust Museum of Houston, Friends of the South Shore Library, Ruskin or The Mary and Martha House, Ruskin, Florida.
