YOUNG, Owen M. "Marty," 73 of Sebring, Florida, passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at Highlands Regional Medical Center with his loving family by his bedside. Marty was born August 11, 1939 in Miami, Florida and was the son of the late Owen and Estelle Young. Marty is survived by his loving wife of fifty-four years, Audrey Ericsson Young of Sebring; daughters, Crystal Breeden (Shaun) of Sebring and Lisa Jackson (Jeff) of Avon Park; and a son, John M. Young (Cheryl) of Kathleen, Georgia. He is also survived by a brother, Richard Young of Troy, Montana; and a sister, Valeria Vogt of Port Ludlow, Washington; seven grandchildren: Tiffany, Justin Hare, Audrey, Andrew, and Catherine Young, and Cash and Casey Jackson. Marty enlisted in the Marine Corps and rose to the rank of Corporal before being honorably discharged. Following the Marines, he served as a fireman in Miami, FL. He became interested in computers and worked as a computer systems analyst for different companies in Florida, Georgia, Connecticut and South Carolina. In 1976, Marty and his family moved to Sebring Florida where he became owner-operator of Young Sign Company. He is a past member of the Sebring Lions club, and served as Treasurer. He was raised a Master Mason in Sebring Lodge 249 F & A.M. He was Master of the Lodge, and was also a past District Deputy Grand Master of Florida Masons. He was a member of both the Scottish and York Rites. He was also a member of the Egypt Temple Shrine and a past President of the Highlands County Shrine Club. He was also a past Worthy Patron of the Eastern Star. Marty appreciated the Sebring community and wanted to return to the community the support and care he and his family received. He was selected to be a member of the Sebring Zoning Board. He was also elected multiple times as a City Councilman. He was regarded by many as a man of few words, but fair and compassionate in his actions. He attended Atonement Lutheran Church where he was President of the Church Council for over 20 years. Marty was an avid reader and enjoyed baseball and traveling. He was a Wagon Master and Master of Travel for the NCT Masonic Camping Chapter. He was also a member of the Good Time Sams Camping Chapter. Masonic Rites Services by Sebring Masonic Lodge 249 F & A.M., will be held on Monday evening, March 4 at 6:00 p.m. at Dowden Funeral Home Chapel with the family receiving friends from 5:00 p.m. until service time. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, March 5 at 11.00 a.m. at Atonement Lutheran Church with the Rev. Eugene R. Fernsler as Celebrant with inurnment in the Atonement Lutheran Church.
