GOORAVIN, Richard "Dick", beloved husband and father was reunited with his Lord on Tuesday February 4, 2014. Dick was the only child of Ms. Elizabeth Pearson and John Francis Gooravin. He was born in Miami, Florida, September 23, 1927. When Dick was through with high school he joined the US Navy and later the US Coast Guard where he was assigned to the Alligator Reef Lighthouse, a position he thoroughly enjoyed. After Dick was discharged he met and married Ms. Dorothy Mae Clayton, August 16, 1959 in Islamorada, Fla. He went to work for the gas company as a service technician and meter reader in Islamorada, Fl. retiring after 25 plus years. He and Dorothy moved to Lake Placid in 1994. Dick was a member of the Faith Baptist Church, Lake Placid Masonic Lodge, American Legion, and VFW. His hobby was wood-working. Dick will always be remembered for his terrific sense of humor. Dick is survived by his wife, Dorothy; children, Jackie Gargan (John), Donald Morrison (Debbie), Joan R. Gooravin; 12 grandchildren and he was blessed with 11 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends today from 10 a.m. through 11a.m., at Faith Baptist Church with funeral services beginning at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Bill Cole will celebrate. Burial with Military Honors and Masonic Services will follow at the Oak Hill Cemetery. Funeral arrange-ments are under the loving devotion of MICHAEL A.
