EDMONDS, Robert G., " Bob" 67 of Brooksville, FL went home to be with his Savior, Jesus Christ after a courageous battle with Liver Cancer, on May 26, 2014. Anyone who knew him would say he led a blessed life. He was known for his love of the Lord, his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kathleen Edmonds Houle and Frederick Edmonds; stepfather and stepmother Rudolph and Margaret Houle; foster father and mother Walter and Edith Sheperd; and brothers Ronald Sheperd and John Faucher. Bob married his high school sweetheart, Joann Rossley, and they were married for 48 years. Together they raised daughter Dianne Gingras, wife of William Gingras, and son, Richard Edmonds. Grandchildren: Amanda, Robert and Corey Gingras. Great grandchildren: Connor Frye and Brianna Gingras. Brothers: George, Peter, Bruce and Alan Houle; Sisters: Elaine Vincent, Kathleen Sheperd, Patricia Ostiguy, Yvette Slavenwhite, Pam O'Bryant, Kathleen Banks, Melissa Horgan; nieces, nephews, cousins and his dog Lily who he loved dearly. Bob attended Boys Trade and Quinsigamond College in Worcester, MA. Bob worked at Norton Company for 18 years as a Fire Inspector/Safety Supervisor; an EMT and Volunteer Firefighter in Oxford, MA and a CPR Instructor in Worcester County; and 20 years in transportation, retiring from A. Duie Pyle in Webster, MA. Bob moved to Florida with his wife in 2010. Bob was a 32nd degree Mason in the York Rite, past Master at Oxford Masonic Lodge AF&AM, and Marshall for the District Deputy in Massachusetts. He was an ordained deacon at Spring Hill United Church of Christ. Quick with a smile, he made friends with everyone he met and was always there to lend a helping hand. He was a novice wood carver, enjoyed traveling, golfing, hunting, fishing and his Harley Davidson. Bob also had a very special love for animals and nature. In his younger years, he played high school football. Other sports baseball, softball and basketball for Bethany Congregation Church UCC in Worcester. He loved spending summers with his family in their home in Ocean Park, Maine. A member of Oxford Congregation Church, UCC in Oxford. There he was a deacon, Sunday school teacher. Also a youth group advisor for eleven years. Throughout his journey with Cancer, he demonstrated his love for others, hospitality and a boundless sense of humor. He was loved and respected not only by his family, but by innumerable friends and the youth that he mentored. Bob was especially devoted to his family and was the epitome of a husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather - leaving a beautiful legacy. He taught them to appreciate the simplicities of life that God gave us and to focus on the positives, cherish each and every day, have a forgiving heart and to help others. A Celebration of Bob's life will be held on June 14th at 1:00 p.m. at the Spring Hill United Church of Christ. Donations may be made in his memory to Spring Hill United Church of Christ, 4244 Mariner Boulevard, Spring Hill, FL 34609 or to HPH Hospice, 12260 Cortez Boulevard, Brooksville, FL 34613. A Graveside service will be held in Massachusetts at a later date.
