EBANKS Arthur, passed away suddenly Monday, Dec. 10, 2012. A native of West Bay, Grand Cayman, Arthur was lovingly raised in Grand Cayman by his aunts, Elizabeth (Baba) Jackson and Claudine (Onene) Jackson until 1955 when he immigrated to Tampa with his parents and siblings. He attended Cayman High School and graduated from Hillsborough High School. He Served in the U. S. Navy and the Naval Reserve. With pride, he felt honored to be given an opportunity to serve his new adopted country. A seventh generation Cayrnanian, Arthur was a direct descendant of John Shearer Jackson, a native of Chatham England, who settled in Grand Cayman in 1774. With dual citizenship, he deeply relished his British heritage and his American citizenship full-filled his dream of living in America and having opportunities to further his education and serve his country as his father had. An electrician by trade, he retired from University of South Florida maintenance department after 40 years of service. In his youth, he was a member of the Presbyterian Church of West Bay, Grand Cayman and attended with his family and grand-parents, where his Christian character and principles were instilled and nourished by his church and family. In Tampa he was a member of the First United Methodist of Lutz. His love of the ocean, boats, sailing, fishing and the outdoors gave him much peace and serenity. His family would like to thank everyone for their many kind expressions of caring, love and sympathy. A private service is planned with a burial at Bushnell Military Cemetery. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jennis Jackson Ebanks; infant brother, aunt, Doris Maud Jackson Ebanks; father, Elbert Ebanks; and step-mother, Una Borden Ebanks. He is survived by daughter, Elizabeth Ebanks; sister, Jennis Ebanks Torrens; brothers, Robert (Bobby) Ebanks, Curtis Ebanks and Lee Ebanks. Other surviving relatives in Tampa and Grand Cayman are his nieces, nephews and many cousins including his uncle, Capt. Marvin Ebanks.
