WILLIAMS, Artie A. "Art", 80, of Lake Placid, Fla., passed away Sunday morning, February 16, 2014, at Highlands Regional Medical Center. Art was born in Holmes County, Florida where he lived until he joined the US Navy in 1950. He married his childhood sweetheart Sarah Frances Smith in 1952. They moved to Lake Placid in 1954 where they lived most of their married life. Frances preceded Art in death as did his parents John W. and Pauline Watford Williams. In 2013 Art found love again and married Ruth Smyth who survives him. He is also survived by his children, Debbie Storicks (Steve), Artie (Denise), Rocky (Yvonne), Jeff (Kristin); grandchildren, Karla Storicks Youlden (Sean), Kyle, Kendall, Dennis, Macey, Dagen Williams, and he was blessed with great grandchildren, Deidre Shankle and Zachary Youlden. When Art came to Lake Placid he worked at Buddy's Sinclair Station and other local establishments until he secured a position at St. Regis Paper Co, which later became Georgia Pacific. He retired after 29 years. Art was a Korean Conflict Veteran and was very proud of serving his country in the US Navy. He enjoyed playing the guitar and singing country music and gospel. He was a member of the Faith Baptist Church. Family will receive friends at Michael A. Brochetti Funeral Home from 6 through 8 p.m. Wednesday, February 19, 2014. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 20, 2014, at Faith Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Ford and Pastor Bill Cole con-celebrating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery with military honors presented by the US Navy. Funeral arrangements are under the loving devotion of MICHAEL A.
