KENNEDY, Betty Wall, 82, of Tampa (b. Parkton, NC), passed away Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012. The name Betty Kennedy is not an unfamiliar one to the Tampa Bay area. She has been one of Tampa's top realtors since 1976. Betty participated in the sale of over 5,000 homes in our area and received awards from Better Homes and Gardens twice as #1 Sales Associate in the United States, #1 Realtor in Tampa 1995-1999 amongst all local realtors in dollar volume, Top 10 Realtor 2000-2007 amongst all local realtors in dollar volume, Top 1/2% of 120,000 Coldwell Banker agents worldwide - and the list goes on. Betty gives God all the thanks and praise for her life - and what a life! Her success story began in 1929 in North Carolina. Raised on a farm in humble surroundings, she married and moved to Florida in the 1950's. Betty had four boys. She went to work in order to give her children what was most important to her - a first rate education. The guiding principles that helped accomplish her goals: #1 Faith in God, #2 Put the Customer First, #3 Honesty and Integrity, and #4 Be Aggressive, but Fair. Betty lived these principles in business and life for her 82 years. She was once quoted as saying, "I put the customer first. That's the secret, if there is one, to care about your customers." In Betty's case, putting the customer first meant working 16 to 18 hours a day, seven days a week for most of her career. Betty was a great leader, on constant watch over her past and present customers and the business she developed. A great teacher and adviser; she was demanding but fair. She is survived by her four sons, a sister and two brothers, six grandchildren, and four great grandchildren, and too many friends to count. Services to remember Betty's legacy begin at Blount & Curry Funeral Home, MacDill Avenue Chapel, 605 South MacDill Avenue, Tampa on Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012, from 5 pm to 9 pm. A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held the following morning, Friday Nov. 2, 2012 at Van Dyke United Methodist Church, 17030 Lakeshore Rd, Lutz, at 9:30 am, with a reception to follow. Betty's final resting place will be at Green Springs Baptist Church in Parkton, North Carolina.
