REYNOLDS, Billy Kirkwood "Kirk," 85, passed away May 15, 2011.
The family of Billy Kirkwood
Reynolds "Kirk" is heart-broken to announce his sudden and un-expected departure. He was born in Lamar, S.C., to Altamonte and Bertha Reynolds April 18, 1926. His devoted and loving wife, Barbara Beiers Reynolds, preceded him in death in June of 2007. Survivors include his daughter, Julie Jones (Bobby); grandson, Matt of Jacksonville, Fla.; son, Michael Reynolds (Kristen); and grand-children, Casey and Blake of Winter Springs, Fla. Also surviving is his sister, Helen Groetzinger (Tom); brother, Harold of Columbia, S.C.; and numerous nieces and nephews. His storied life included service in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II and graduation from The Citadel and the University of South Carolina, class of 1949. His career brought him to Dade City, Fla., to Lykes Pasco Inc., as a sales executive, where he worked for 25 years. His adventures were international in scope and his devotion unsurpassed. Kirk loved the interaction with people. No one missed his attention, interest and kindness. Kirk retired in 1991, and he and Barbara moved to Linville Land Harbor, N.C. There he loved to use his talented voice to sing in many local musical productions, play golf, tennis and be with friends. Anyone that ever met Kirk never forgot him. His beautiful musical voice will be remembered by many. Never will there be a more generous and tender hearted man. In 2002, to be close to family and to care for Barbara, he moved back to Jacksonville, Fla., still spending summers in North Carolina. The hardships never kept him down. He was always the center of so many lives. A memorial service will take place at
3 p.m. Saturday, May 21, at Geneva Presbyterian Church, 1755 N State Road 13, Switzerland, Fla. In his memory, donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans Gift Processing, P.O.
