JONES, C. Robert "Bob," 75, of Brandon passed away on December 21, 2012, after a valiant struggle with leukemia. Bob was a loving husband and a devoted father, believing that his family was the most important and cherished aspect of his life. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Jones; sons, Robert Jones (Leah) and Ronald Jones (Paige); grandsons, Rick Jones (Corrie); and Ryan Jones; brother, C. James Jones (Trudy). Born in Ft. Myers, Bob's parents relocated to Tampa when he was two years old. Bob graduated from Jefferson High School, joined the U. S. Air Force and attended the University of Tampa on a football scholarship. Later, Bob joined the City of Tampa Fire Department, retiring after 22 years of dedicated service. Bob owned C. Robert Jones Construction, Inc., building both residential and commercial properties in the Tampa Bay area. Bob was a gifted athlete, playing football for UT, along with football and baseball for the Air Force. He also excelled in basketball and in many track and field events. Bob shared his love of athletics with his family and they all enjoyed swimming, water skiing, scuba diving and snow skiing. The family wishes to thank Dr. Accomando and the staff at the James A. Haley VA Hospital for their compassionate care. A celebration of Bob's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Operation Helping Hand.
