ALDRIDGE, Carl M. Sr., 93, peacefully met his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on May 7, 2013, at his Tampa home. Born in Engle-wood, TN, on December 1, 1919, he later served in the US Army during WWll and was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart for his valor and injuries suffered during the Battle of the Bulge and other military operations in Belgium and Germany. He retired from the American Can Company in Tampa after 35 years of employment, working his way up to mechanical supervisor and company representative in Argentina. During retirement, he continued exercising his technical skills in mechanical craftmanship, often creating machine and motor parts that were no longer available on the market, at his home workshop. He is survived by his wife of nearly of 73 years, Emelia "Millie" Tramontana Aldridge; sons, Paul, Carl Jr, Frederick; daughter, Mary Toledo (Bobby); 9 grand and 17 great grandchildren. He was dearly loved and is sorely missed by all of his family members and friends. He was truly a member of the Greatest Generation and a humble American hero. Special gratitude is extended to his caregivers, Hortensia and Ildamis, hospital and home healthcare providers of the James A. Haley VA Medical Center and the Hospice lndlgo Team. Friends will be received on Sunday, May 12, 2013 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4207 E. Lake Ave., Tampa, where funeral services will be held on Monday, May 13, 2013 at 10:OOAM. Burial with military honors will follow at Mvrtle Hill Memorial Park.
