STOKES, Cephus Amoska, 90, of Tampa passed away March 12, 2014. He was born in the Seminole Heights area of Tampa August 2, 1923 and attended Hillsborough High School 1939-1941. In 1942, Cephus enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was in Normandy as part of naval support during D-Day. After the war he worked as an engineer for the Seaboard Coastline Railroad for 39 years until his retirement in 1984. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley, his younger son, Michael and two brothers, James and Homer Stokes. He is survived by his older son, Richard of Gainesville; nephew, Vernon Stokes of Tampa; nieces, Cheryl Harris and Jamie Wood of Tampa and Casey Conerly of Charlotte, NC. A graveide service will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday March 15, 2014 in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
