BARKER, Charles Robert "Bob," passed away Friday, February 12, 2010, in Avon Park, Fla. He was born in Cadiz, Ohio, to Charles Lemuel and Stella Belle (Carson) Barker. He was a minister, having served the Church of Christ in Dover, Ohio, Avon Park, Lake Placid, Fla., and Frostproof, Fla. He also owned and operated Bob' s Furniture Store in Avon Park and served as a security officer for eight years. He was a retired school teacher and school administrator and he also worked for the Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home for several years. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and had been a resident of Avon Park since 1974, coming from Dover, Ohio. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Ann Barker of Avon Park; daughters, Dixie Lee Lipscomb (Michael) of Hot Springs, Ark., Kristi Ann Polston (Donald) of Sebring, Fla., and Rick Barker (Kathy) of Deltona, Fla.; Diana Meneely of Avon Park, a friend for more than 40 years, whom he always considered another daughter; sister, Doris Abston (Marvin) of Bradenton, Fla.; grand-children, Deah, Riley, Heather and Hayden; and great-grandchild, Quinn. 4-6 p.m. Sunday, February 14, 2010, at the Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, February 15, 2010, at the Church of Christ, with Minister Alin Chapman, Minister Larry Robert and Minister Melvin Barker officiating.
