BALLIET, Claude, 84, of Dover, Fla., passed away Friday, October 16, 2009, at his residence, among his family members. Mr. Balliet was a lifelong area resident and had retired from Tampa Electric Co. after 37 years of service. He was a World War II U.S. Coast Guard veteran, a member of the First Baptist Church of Dover, and a member of the Florida Cattlemen' s Association. Survivors include his wife, Louise Alderman Balliet of Plant City; one son, Philip C. Balliet, and his wife, Bonnie, of Dover; seven daughters, Judith Thomas and husband, Jerry, of Dover, Marilyn Duclos-Balliet and husband, Michael, of Dover, Sherril Blanton and husband, Norman, of Plant City, Wanda and husband, Reese McClelland, of Dover, Lucinda English and husband, Rodney, of Dover, Bonnie B. Wilson and husband, Art, of Dover, and Ginger Pickern and husband, Danny, of Dover; one brother, Floyd Balliett of Ogden, Utah; one sister, Mary Shirley of Lithia, Fla.; 17 grandchildren; 22 great- grandchildren; and a multitude of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Sunday, October 18, at Wells Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church of Dover, with the Revs. Bennie Keck, Bennie Baker and Norman Blanton officiating. The pallbearers will be his grandsons, Drew Balliet, Jason Blanton, Ian Danley, Nicholas Wilson, Rhett McClelland, Caleb Pickern and Christopher Duclos. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery.
