MERRILL, Dana Eaton, 74, of Sebring, Fla., died Monday, December 31, 2012, in the Florida Heartland Medical Center in Sebring. Dana was a native of Maine. He was born June 9, 1938, the son of Ms. A. Gertrude and Blaine Merrill of Rockland. Dana graduated from high school in 1956, in Rockland and entered the work force with a concrete manufacturing company based in Maine. He was transferred to a plant in New Hampshire and after a period of time he ended his employ and entered into a city government job in Nashua. Dana spent the next 20 years as captain for the Nashua, N.H., Fire Dept. He retired in 1985. In 1991, Dana came to Lake Placid, Fla. were he resided through 2004, moving to Sebring. Dana was a Baptist in his faith. He enjoyed golfing and was a member of the Lake Placid Elks Lodge. Dana is survived by his loving wife, Jacqueline A. Dumais Merrill, whom he wed December 10, 1985 in Nashua, N.H.; children, Richard Merrill, Tracy Merrill, Elizabeth Merrill, Catherine Sweeney and family, Dana Merrill Jr., Kevin Jackman, Penn; Keith Jackman (Beth) Punta Gorda, Fla.; siblings, Jean Bell (Robert), Dianne Simonton (Ralph); in-laws, Jeannine Dagenais, Steve Wilson; 9 grandchildren, and he was blessed with a great-grandchild. In celebration of Dana's life and to honor his memory, a memorial service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 12, at Michael A. Brochetti Funeral Home in Lake Placid.
