Douglas Gibson Obituary

GIBSON, Douglas Hayman, 92, passed away peacefully at home May 23,

2011, from complica-tions with cancer. Born August 13, 1918, Doug was a lifelong resident of Tampa, born and raised in Port Tampa City. He was a 1938 graduate of H. B. Plant high school. He served in the Navy during World War II and enjoyed boxing. He worked for Standard/ Chevron Oil Co. for many years as manger of operations. Doug was preceded in death by his parents and siblings. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (Bettie Jo) Reid Gibson; children, Sheila Gibson Henriksen (Bob), and Susan Gibson Goyette (Tony); and stepchildren, Barbara Karup Griffin (Marty), Cheryl Karup Follett, Michael Karup and Douglas Karup; and many grandchildren, great-grand children, nieces and nephews. Memorial services will take place at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2011, at Keystone United Methodist Church, 16301 Race Track Road, Odessa, FL 33556, (813) 920-4819. In lieu of flowers, please donate to LifePath Hospice for their great care of Douglas as he battled with cancer until he was called to Heaven.

Its' so hard to believe time pages so quickly. I remember my Uncle Doug as a gentle, quiet person and always so nice and handsome. My thoughts are with the family & friends of this wonderful & much missed man.
