SCOTT, Elizabeth Jane (Grusenmeyer) "Bettie", 89, of Tampa, Florida, passed away on December 11, 2012, after a long battle with Alzh-eimer's Disease. Born June 4, 1923, in Dayton, Ohio, Bettie was the second oldest of eight children born to John and Alice Grusenmeyer. Bettie married U.S. Army Captain Edward Francis Scott on June 24, 1944, in Dayton, Ohio, and moved to Tampa where they raised their seven children, first in Hyde Park, then Davis Island and finally Palma Ceia. A member of Christ the King parish for over 30 years, Bettie was gregarious and social. A tireless worker, she enjoyed hosting large family gatherings, which she did with grace and apparent ease. Her children were encouraged to bring guests to these gatherings, as there was "always room for one more." She also enjoyed spending time with her many friends at the garden club, bridge group, and quilting bee. Bettie loved working with plants and spent hours in her yard at home, at the family beach house and at the family lake property. Many envied her green thumb, and some of the plants she lovingly propagated 30 years ago are still thriving today. Bettie is survived by her children, Bruce Scott (Wynelle), Mark Scott (Linda), Steven Scott, Victoria Scott Horowitz (Alan), Julianne Ross, and Gregory Scott (Tammy). She was the beloved grandmother to seven, Michelle Begu‚ (Gabriel), Nicole Jones (Lewis), Amelia, Chloe, Ryan, Matthew, and Elizabeth. She also left six great-grandchildren, Katherine, Hannah and Owen and Draven Begu‚; and Caitlin and Trip Jones. Bettie was predeceased by her husband, Edward Scott; daughter, Beverly (Bunny) Marie Scott, parents, John and Alice Grusenmeyer; and her brothers and sisters, Mary, Angie, Bobby, Eugene, Jack, Tommy and Alice. With her passing, her branch of the Grusenmeyer clan comes to an end. Funeral services will be held on December 18, 2012, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 821 S. Dale Mabry Hwy, Tampa, FL. Visitation: 9:30 am; Funeral Mass: 10:30 am; Reception in Center A&B behind the church: 11:30 am; Graveside service at Myrtle Hill Cemetery, 4002 N. 50th St, Tampa, FL: 1:00 pm. The family wants to acknowledge Bettie's caregivers Vickie and Barbara who respectfully cared for our mother for many years as if she was their own mother. We are so grateful for the conscientious and loving care you provided. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the at alz.org. "Well done, good and faithful servant."
