REVELS, Ernest W. Jr., 86, Nokomis, formerly of Boca Grande, passed away on July 1, 2013. He was a loving son, husband, father, and grandfather who dedicated his life to his family and was devoted to his Lord and Savior. He was preceded in death by Sparky, his wife of 58 years and his parents Ernest and Pearl Revels. He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law Bob (Tracey), Steve (Carol), Greg (Debbie), his daughter Charlene, and his grandchildren Ryan (Lauren), Rob, Tyler, Riley, Hannah, and Chase Revels. Born in Waycross GA on October 29, 1926, he grew up in Jacksonville FL where he graduated from Andrew Jackson High School before proudly serving his country during WWII as a member of the United States Air Force. He graduated with honors from the University of Florida in 1950. He was the owner of Revels Ford Tractor Company in Plant City. He served as a deacon at First Baptist Church in Plant City and New Hope Baptist Church in Englewood. He was a past member of the Board of Directors of South Florida Baptist Hospital and Florida Baptist Children's Homes. In his leisure time he enjoyed fishing and boating, watching his children and grandchildren play sports, and travelling the world with Sparky. He will always be remembered for his unconditional love and devotion to his family. Funeral services will be held at Venice Nokomis United Methodist Church on Monday, July 8 at 10:00 A.M with burial to follow at Venice Memorial Gardens. The family wishes to extend their appreciation to TideWell Hospice and caregivers Dori Skelton and Lourdes Valdez for their kindness, compassion, and loving devotion to our dad and granddad. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to TideWell Hospice, to , or to charities of choice. Farley Funeral Home in Venice is handling the arrangements.
