MILLER, Frances, passed away peacefully at the Lake Placid Health Center on February 16, 2013. Her daughter, Janet Dove-Holt and son-in-law, Donald Holt were at her bedside to comfort her. She was of the Methodist faith and remained devout throughout her life. She was born in Gaithersburg, MD on June 17, 1917 to Lena Riley Bohrer and Simon V. Bohrer. Fran was one of 10 children and was the last surviving child. She was preceded in death by her husband, Capt. W. Kenneth Miller, Montgomery County Police Dept., retired, her parents, and nine siblings. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, granddaughter Tina Heysler, husband, Scott; grandson, Steven Dove, wife Lillibeth; and four lovely great-granddaughters, Lindsay, Lauren and Leah Heysler and Katherine Dove. A close sister-in-law, Marjorie Bohrer, and many beloved nieces and nephews. She and her husband retired to Lauderdale Lakes, Fla. in 1963, to be near their family. After the death of her husband in 1979, Fran moved to a condo at Boca Raton, then to Lake Placid to be near her daughter. The last 7 years she had resided at the Fairway Pines Retirement Center and Assisted Living. She enjoyed the socializing thereespecially the wine and cheese parties! Until her move to Assisted living, she enjoyed baking and sharing her goodies with neighbors and her Doctors. Many folks remember her Apple Cake and Pound Cake, old family recipes from her sisters. Fran enjoyed knitting, sewing and playing cards. She loved to go out to dinner and have her "wine and wings". Like many in her family, Fran played the organ, (by ear) and loved to dance. Always ready to lend a helping hand..she had a wonderful sense of humor and was beloved by family, friends and neighbors. The family will receive friends from 10-11:00 a.m. Friday, February 22, 2013, at Scott Funeral Home.
