PERKINS, Francis Mathew, 90, passed away August 20, 2012, at Baldomero Lopez State Veterans Nursing Home, Land O' Lakes, FL. Survivors include his wife, Margaret Wetzstein Perkins of Tampa; children, Leo (Deborah) of Montana, Rosemary (Don) Ashby of Florida, Teresa (Jim) Jarrels of Georgia, Moira Gilley of Florida; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 1 great great-grandchild. Born in Wadena, MN, Nov. 4, 1921, he was the oldest of 10 children. He was a proud veteran of WWII (Persian Gulf Command), serving in transportation and supply on the Burma Road. He was an early entrepreneur of owner-operator trucking services, a lifelong learner, educator and mentor to many.
