HUMMEL, Harry Jr., 92 of Sebring, Fla., went home to be with the Lord February 13, 2013. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Ethel Mary. He was born in Palmyra, Pa. on Sept. 8, 1920 and moved to Sebring in 1955. Harry is survived by his son, Harry, III (Sharron) or Peoria Ariz., four grandchildren, James (Xan), Kathy Galbo (Paul), Jerry Mandoza (Denise), Sherrana and family; 11 great-grandchildren, Joseph, Morgan, Derek, Jennifer, Elizabeth (Jeron), Micah, Luke, Denelle, Andrew and Ryan; and 2 great, great-grandchildren Addison and Acen. He was a dedicated member of the Sebring Church of the Brethren, where he served selflessly until he was 90. He then went to live at the Palms of Sebring (those wonderful people became his second "family") where he had served as a volunteer for many years. Harry also served our country in WWII in the U.S. Army. He was a master carpenter, working with K.D. Grubb Construction, beginning in 1955 until he retired at age 62. He enjoyed playing cards with friends, board games, music, golfing, but most of all, he enjoyed time with family and friends. Harry was a man of high integrity, great character, heart of compassion and always willing to help others. He will truly be missed by those who knew him! A celebration of Harry's life will be held Wednesday, February 22 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sebring Church of the Brethren, 700 South Pine St. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his honor to the Sering Church of the Brethren.
