HENDRICKS, Jack Ellis, 91, passed away on May 1, 2013. He was a native of Tampa and a longtime resident of Temple Terrace, Jack is survived by his niece Judi and her husband Fred Powell,Great-Niece Rebecca Puig and her husband David nieces Barbara Hall and Betty Phillips, nephews Fred Smelt (Sarah) Frank Smelt, and Albert Ash (Joyce) and many great nieces and nephews. After serving in the Navy in WWII, he attended the University of Tampa majoring in Education. He received his Masters in Guidance Counseling at Appalachian State Teachers College Boone N. C. He was a teacher and Guidance Counselor in Hillsborough County Schools for 32 years. Jack was a world traveler visiting many countries more than once and missing only a few. Jack volunteered at UCH for 27 years and served on the Board of Trustees 14 years. Jack was a member of St. Catherine's Episcopal Church. We especially thank his Doctors, and the nurses and staff on 6 Main at Florida Hospital for their loving care and compassion. We thank all of his friends and acquaintances who made his life brighter. He was known as Uncle Jack by all who knew him. He was a kind and generous man and he will be greatly missed. At his request there will be no service.
